 K9 Deployment Techniques & Tactics

Field Training Exercise

-FOR SWORN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ONLY -

OFFICER MUST BE CONSIDERED ON DUTY STATUS

Course is limited to 20 K9 teams maximum

Location – Oak Brook  Mayslake Peabody Estate

 K9 Deployment FTX

 

This training program is designed to provide K9 teams and patrol officers with challenging real world deployment scenarios. In this training FTX you will learn proven deployment techniques including:

 

  • Use of K-9 as a locating tool.
  • Team movement with K9 team.
  • Combinations of use of force to control a suspect.
  • Arrest techniques with a K9 team.
  • Contact/Cover techniques with K9.
  • High Risk vehicle stops using the concept of “mobile cover.”
  • Controlling compliant and noncompliant suspect.

 

Both K9 handlers and patrol officers who attend will come away with new skill sets on K9 deployment  techniques, designating back up officer’s responsibilities, and how to work with a K9 team during a deployment.

 

Equipment:

 

  • K9 and all related gear
  • Duty belt & weapon
  • Water
  • Bag lunch

Location: Mayslake Peabody Estate

 

The entrance to Mayslake Peabody Estate is located on the south side of west 31st Street (Oakbrook Road) one-quarter mile west of Route 83 and one-half mile east of Midwest Road/Cass Avenue.

 

COST - ITOA MEMBERS                  $10.00 per person

COST - Non-Members                       $50.00 per person

Non-Member cost includes 1 year membership
