Officer Brian Taylor and K-9 partner "Victor", Leroy PD.Victor is a 4 year old German Shepherd and has been Officer Taylor's partner since 2004. They were trained by the Cook County Sheriff's Department K-9 training center. Victor is trained in tracking, article search, narcotics detection and obedience. They are currently certified through NAPWDA and ILPWDA. They are the only K-9 team on the Leroy Police Department but they assist many other agencies in the area including the local schools. They are also active in community policing, doing several K-9 demonstrations every year for various civic organizations and the schools. The K-9 unit was made possible through a $10,000.00 crime detection grant and many donations from local businesses. Veterinary care is donated by our local Vet, Dr. Bane. All of Victor's food is donated by the local True Value store.
